Abstract

Incomplete fusion or traumatic rupture of the diaphragm leads to the development of a diaphragmatic hernia. Pregnancy may act as precipitating factor in occult congenital diaphragmatic hernias to become symptomatic. We report a case of a 26-year-old primigravida with 31 weeks of pregnancy presented to us with, herniation of abdominal viscera into left hemithorax compressing left lung with a mediastinal shift. This case highlights the clinical presentations of maternal diaphragmatic hernia during pregnancy and challenges present in management.
