From the Desk of Guest Editors

In the fast changing scenario in modern times, life of our surgeons continues to become challenging every day. Now, it is on us to respond to the challenge without any major internal stress and continuing with purpose of our existence as surgeons which is definitely to look after our patient in the best possible way.

All of us are constantly trying to explore the evolution of time we live. Sometimes, we are not sure of how to utilize our abilities, time, and skill in the best possible way. All of us who practice surgery have leadership qualities, and we must take steps to improve our leadership skill in every field of life. It is very important to believe that we have the unlimited potential to do better than before. At every opportunity, the power of will and focused attention is very significant, and we should utilize this to lead a happy and fulfilled life. We know that life for any one of us would never be smooth all the time, and if we little bit deep dive on the purpose of life, then we realize that actually we are here on this planet for continued development of our stature and radiation of genuinity in every aspect of life which becomes possible by accumulating different experiences while living life the way we live, and with this realization, difficulties and hardships in life take a different meaning. The main challenge is to make sincere effort using our knowledge, skill, and innovative ideas not only to find the solution for each problem but to transform us into better human beings.

We are very thankful to editorial board of Indian Journal of Surgery for giving us the opportunity and responsibility for special issue of IJS on topics related to Surgical Gastroenterology. The authors for the various topics are very experienced and reputed surgeons, and we are sure that this special issue of IJS would make decent impact on people who read it and would definitely add value to our academic pursuit.
