Summary
From March 19 to 23, 2012, scientists, politicians and representatives of national minorities met at the Akademie für Politische Bildung APB ("Academy for Civic Education") in Tutzing to discuss minority issues in Europe. The conference was organised by the Haus des Deutschen Ostens" HDO ("Centre for the Germans Originating in Eastern Europe") in Munich in co-operation with the APB and the Akademie für Lehrerfortbildung und Personalführung ("Academy for Advanced Teacher Training and Personnel Management") in Dillingen. "Minorities in Germany" and "German minorities in Europe" were among the main topics of the conference, with a focus on the position of minorities within the process of European integration and on the importance of language and culture for the creation of identity.
