Summary
A new and controversial statute of autonomy entered into force in Catalonia in August 2006. In June 2010, the Spanish Constitutional Court nullified 14 provisions of this new Catalonian autonomy Statute and construed another 27 provisions in accordance with the Constitution. This article is a survey of the most important aspects of the Court decision and an evaluation of its consequences for the future development of Catalonia's autonomy.
