Notes
I was reading this biography of Hirschman during a visit at the Freie Universitat in Berlin, in July 2013. Reading the events of Hirschman family and visiting the places mentioned, was for me a really fascinating and deep experience.
The title of the thesis was Il Franco Poincaré e la sua svalutazione, a monetary policy study that he had initiated in France.

This publication of A.O. Hirschman is consistent with the early prestigious tradition of The Giornale degli Economisti. At the beginning of its publication, not only Pantaleoni and Pareto published in the Giornale most of their economics papers, but also Edgeworth and other international economists were present in the journal (among those the 1915’s classical contribution of E. Slutzky on income and substitution effects, “Sulla teoria del bilancio del consumatore” (vol. 21): also, this paper was published in Italian).
