Abstract
Merostachys is one of the more species-rich genera of Neotropical woody bamboos. It includes about 55 described species, of which 44 are found in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, the center of diversity and endemism of the genus. Based on fieldwork in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo states and morphological analyses in herbaria, we recognize two new species, Merostachys judziewiczii and M. lage-vianae, from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. They are described, illustrated, and discussed, and a key to the species of Merostachys in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo states is supplied.
