A new species of Stylogyne (Myrsinaceae) from the Atlantic Forest of Brazil

Abstract

Stylogyne araujoana, a new endemic species from the Atlantic Forest Region of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil is described, illustrated, and mapped. Its relationships with Stylogyne pauciflora and Stylogyne sordida are discussed, and comments concerning the taxonomy, ecology, and conservation status are provided. Micromorphological leaf characters are illustrated and discussed.

Stylogyne araujoana, uma nova espécie endêmica da Floresta Atlântica do estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, é descrita, ilustrada e mapeada. Sua relação com Stylogyne pauciflora e Stylogyne sordida é discutida, e são apresentados comentários acerca de sua taxonomia, ecologia e status de conservação. Caracteres micromorfológicos da folha são ilustrados e discutidos.
