Acknowledgments

Thanks to the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation for financing field work that enabled me to see two of these species in the field. Thanks to the Explorama Lodges of Iquitos, Peru, for welcoming me in their facilities to do my research and study two species in their reserves. Mark Chase was kind enough to sequence the rbcL gene for two species and show their relationship to Picramnia and Alvaradoa. I thank Bobbi Angell for bringing these plants and their tiny flowers to life through her line drawings. Thanks also to Jackie Kallunki and Pedro Acevedo for reading earlier drafts of this manuscript.
