A revision of Agrimonia (Rosaceae) in North and Central America

Abstract

We conducted a morphological study of the Agrimonia species of North and Central America to clarify species limits and facilitate identification. We recognize eight species: A. parviflora, A. incisa, A. microcarpa, A. pubescens, A. rostellata, A. gryposepala, A. pringlei, and A. striata. A key for identification as well as descriptions of the recognized taxa with a discussion of the nomenclature and discriminating morphological characters are presented. Lectotypes are designated for A. parviflora, A. suaveolens, A. serrifolia, A. incisa, A. pumila, A. parviflora DC non Aiton, A. eupatoria δ parviflora, and A. striata. A lectotype and an epitype are designated for A. platycarpa. A neotype is designated for A. rostellata.

Resumen

Hemos llevado a cabo un estudio morfológico de las especies del género Agrimonia (Rosaceae) en Norte y Centroamérica con el fin de clarificar los límites entre especies y de facilitar la identificación. Nosotros reconocemos 8 especies: A. parviflora, A. incisa, A. microcarpa, A. pubescens, A. rostellata, A. gryposepala, A. pringlei y A. striata. Se presenta una clave para la identificación como también descripciones de los taxa reconocidos con una discusión de la nomenclatura y caracteres morfológicos discriminantes. Se designa un lectotipo para A. parviflora, A. suaveolens, A. serrifolia, A. incisa, A. pumila, A. parviflora DC non Aiton, A. eupatoria δ parviflora y A. striata. Se designa un lectotipo y un epitipo para A. platycarpa. Se designa un neotipo para A. rostellata.
