Abstract
Preexcitation is caused by an accessory pathway between the atrium and ventricle. Supraventricular tachycardia is a common symptom of this anomaly. This report provides information on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and localization of accessory pathways. As a preexcitation syndrome can be cured in about 95% of cases by catheter ablation, this review also focuses on the current mapping and ablation technologies in septally and epicardially located accessory pathways.
