Abstract

Bleeding caused by rupture of gastric varices is a real challenge for clinicians. Sclerosis of the gastric varices by butyl-cyanoacrylate (Histoacryl®) diluted with lipiodol is the treatment of choice. Various, usually benign, complications have been reported but pulmonary embolism is rare. We report the case of a 52-year-old patient who presented a bilateral pulmonary embolism secondary to a glue injection in a bleeding gastric varice.
