Abstract
ATTA Converter is a new program developed at Palacky University for converting native data formats of GIS (Geographical Information System) products ArcGIS and TerrSet. This program is built on top of open source libraries and is hence offered free of charge. The conversion functionality of ATTA Converter is built on GDAL (Geospatial Data Abstraction Library), which is a widely used and powerful data conversion library that can prove challenging for non-expert users. To alleviate this problem, ATTA Converter offers a simple, user-friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface) using the Python library Tkinter, which makes converting data easy. Moreover, ATTA Converter includes additional functionality mitigating the conversion limitations of GDAL. This paper first briefly presents the products ArcGIS and TerrSet, along with their native data formats and existing conversion tools, and then describes the details of ATTA Converter.
