A Tocqueville dictionary does exist: Jean-Louis Benoit (2017): Dictionnaire Tocqueville, Paris: Nuvis.
Peter Carey (2010) Parrot and Olivier in America, New York: Knopf. George Wilson Pierson’s first edition (1938) was still entitled Tocqueville and Beaumont in America (New York: Oxford University Press) before it was shortened to Tocqueville in America in later editions. Over the next few decades, Beaumont was zoomed in and out by scholars, perhaps indicating repeated returns to the theme of the single genius, a practice not exactly helpful for critical reception and intellectual history properly understood.
