Dr. Hall’s professional career began as a clinical social worker. Subsequent to having written his dissertation on skin color, in 1990 he testified as expert witness to the nation’s first skin color discrimination case between African Americans: Morrow Vs. IRS. Dr. Hall later devised the Bleaching Syndrome to explain discrimination among people of color and Identity Across the Lifespan as an alternative biracial identity model.
His research focus is the environmental justice in communities of color. He specializes in developing self-help approaches for communities of color to reduce years of life lost in their communities. He was formerly director of the David Walker Research Institute in the College of Human Medicine at MSU.
