Abstract

Modern Wireless technologies need compatible hardware arrangement to support advancements of 5G system such as intense data traffic, increased spectrum efficiency and mobility with lowered latency. Also, researchers in last two decades claim that numerous miniaturized antennas in wireless devices can settle almost all issues of current wireless systems, hence in this paper a sincere effort is made to present the compact 4 element Multiple Input Multiple Output antenna system with coupled loop technique for sub 6 GHz of 5G applications. The Loop antenna structure presented here incorporate four units perpendicular to the substrate consequently diminishing the area required. The antenna elements are designed using FR4 substrate to operate at the 5.46 GHz and 3.42 GHz frequencies. Mutual coupling between the antenna elements is improved using the decoupling element of T shape. Simulation results with decoupling structure showed up − 10 dB bandwidth of 130 MHz at upper and 180 MHz at lower band respectively along with ECC < 0.0003 and CCL of 0.003. Isolation of − 18.28 dB and − 35.52dB along with gain of 4.6 dB and 2.8 dB for lower band and upper band respectively are reported in the design presented here. The salient features of the presented system are its compactness, dual band, high gain, high isolation, it can be easily assembled in mobile handsets and wireless terminal devices for 5G applications.
