Abstract

The Plasma Blade (Fugo Blade) was used to treat a traumatic retinal detachment, a case of Eales disease, and a case of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Using this new battery-powered radiofrequency electrosurgical device, the authors were able to perform retinotomy and dissolve dense fibrovascular bands, with minimal bleeding and no tractional tears. The Plasma Blade appears, to have other clinical applications besides capsulotomy.
