Experimental and simulation study on milling parameters of hardened steel mold

The machined surface formed by the high speed milling of the hardened steel mold basically reflects the end surface used, and its machined surface state has an important effect on the mold’s performance. The formula of the machined surface formed by the high-speed milling of the ball milling cutter is studied and the formula of the maximum residual height at the arc of the die in the U-shaped bending is deduced. The concept of cutting edge is proposed for the transition zone and its theoretical formula is obtained. The high speed milling and stamping combination test were carried out to observe the surface morphology before and after die die. The influence of milling parameters on the wear of hardened steel molds was analyzed by Deform-3D finite element simulation software. The response surface simulation scheme was designed, and the regression model of machining parameters and maximum wear depth was established. What’s more, the influence of the interaction between different processing parameters on the wear amount was studied.
