Jochen Hoock, né en 1939, est professeur émérite d’histoire moderne et contemporaine de l’université de Paris 7, Denis Diderot. Ses recherches portent sur la théorie de l’histoire. Il a notamment publié, en collaboration avec Pierre Jeannin et Wolfgang Kaiser, Ars Mercatoria. Manuels et traité à l’usage des marchands, 1470–1700 (Paderborn, Schöningh, 1991–2001, 3 vol.).
