Résumé

Vivre avec le cancer peut engendrer un état de détresse existentielle. Cet état se caractérise, entre autres, par la remise en question du sens et de la valeur de la vie. L’objectif de cet article est de présenter l’approche thérapeutique de la logothérapie de Viktor E. Frankl, laquelle aborde et a pour but de soulager la détresse existentielle vécue en oncologie. D’abord, les origines et principaux concepts de la logothérapie seront exposés. Ensuite, nous illustrerons cette approche à l’aide d’un cas clinique. Finalement, les implications et limites de la logothérapie seront discutées.

Abstract

Living with cancer can generate a state of existential distress. Characteristics of this state may be a questioning of the meaning and value of life. The purpose of this article is to introduce Viktor E. Frankl’s logotherapy, a psychotherapeutic approach, which addresses and aims at alleviating existential distress often present in oncology. First, the development of logotherapy and its main concepts are described. Then, this approach is illustrated using a clinical case. Finally, implications and limits of logotherapy are proposed.
