The support for the brothers and the sisters in “this serious illness story”

Résumé

Face aux préoccupations grandissantes concernant le soutien des proches, la prise en charge psychologique des fratries s’impose. Au sein d’un service d’oncologie pédiatrique, nous avons proposé aux frères et soeurs d’enfants malades, des groupes ouverts et ponctuels autour d’une médiation. Cette pratique, bien que présentant certaines limites, s’est révélée pertinente dans le cadre d’une prise en charge globale des familles. Nos observations contribuent à une meilleure compréhension des dynamiques familiales.

Abstract

Regarding the increase of concerns linked to the support of close relations, the psychological support of sibling is important to lead. In a unit of pediatric oncology, we proposed to the brothers and sisters of a child with a serious illness, opened and punctual groups around mediation. Despite certain limits, this psychological support shows enhances global help to families. Our observations show a better understanding of the family dynamics.
