Abstract

This article discusses the importance and effects of expressing the experience of pain for breast cancer patients in group psychotherapy. Using a cognitive-behavior model, we assess the expression of pain and other issues by these patients and present the main techniques used in the course of therapy. We underscore the many interconnected links between pain and fears of recurrence, including the psychosocial repercussions. Finally, we address the evolution of the cancer pain model into a specific model of chronic pain.
