Spark Plasma Sintering as an Approach to Manufacture Bulk Materials: Feasibility and Cost Savings

  • Published:
JOM Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

We describe the technique of spark plasma sintering and highlight its advantages, providing several examples of model materials that can be produced using this manufacturing methodology. We also discuss commercialization of the technology and the likely future of materials manufacturing, including production volume and savings.
