From TMS Executive Director Alexander Scott: Like you., TMS exists in a rapidly changing world. To more fluidly meet the technical needs of our members, we have established the new TMS staff position of technical director. The technical director position evolved from a recommendation of the TMS ad hoc Industrial Alliance Committee, which last year proposed a six-month trial period to establish a technical consultant on staff. At the conclusion of the pilot project, it was clear that there are numerous areas where a full-time technical resource on staff would benefit the Society. As such, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Warren H. Hunt, Jr., to the TMS staff as our technical director. He has a strong materials R&D background, industrial experience, and an excellent familiarity with TMS through his volunteer activities and his recent stint as staff technical consultant. As you will read in the following. Warren will be a catalyst in realizing the technical initiatives embodied in the TMS Strategic Plan.
