Summary
The methodology of psychologically oriented dream research is reviewed. Common data collection strategies and the basics of dream content analysis are presented. Several examples will illustrate the application of this methodology. In essence, the findings support the continuity between waking life and dreaming. However, many puzzles, e.g. regarding dream function, remain unresolved.
