A new species of leafhopper genus Sophonia (Evacanthinae: Cicadellidae: Hemiptera) with checklist to tribe Nirvanini from India

Abstract

A new evacanthine leafhopper, Sophonia delhiensis sp. n., is reported from Delhi, India. A detailed morphological description and photographs are provided. A checklist of tribe Nirvanini and a modified key for the genus Sophonia from India are given. Type material is deposited in the National Pusa Collection, Division of Entomology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi, India.
