Professor CHEN Han-ping (1937–), a chief physician and tutor of a Ph.D. candidate, was born in Minhou County, Fujian province. He is engaged in experimental and clinic research of acupuncture for a long period. Prof. CHEN was the vice dean of Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, director of Shanghai Research Institute of Acupuncture and Meridian, director of WHO Cooperation Center for Traditional Medicine, committee member of the 6th Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, vice-chairman of Chinese Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (CAAM), president of experimental acupuncture and moxibustion branch of CAAM, chairman of Shanghai Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, associate editor-in-chief of Yearbook of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China. Now he is the vice chief of the experts committee of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, director of editorial committee of Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, editor-in-chief of Journal of Acupuncture and tuina Science. He was approved to receive the special allowance of State Council in 1992, and awarded Shanghai famous physician of traditional Chinese medicine in 1995. Prof. CHEN advocated and established the study direction of acupuncture-immune, and summarized its nature, rule and mechanism, which enriched the idea and method of acupuncture treating immunological diseases.
