Abstract

Faecal incontinence is a common disease that is difficult to treat. Other medical alternatives should be offered. TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator) on the tibial nerve is effective for faecal incontinence: this has been demonstrated in a few studies by showing a decrease in incontinence score up to 60%. This treatment can be done at home by the patient, twice a day, for twenty minutes. It is painless, cheap and is non-invasive.
