Abstract
Low back pain may provoke work loss among patients who are unable to stay at work or to resume their work. Evidence-based clinical guidelines and effective return-to-work programs are under utilised even when available. There are many barriers that impede best practices in work disability prevention among the stakeholders involved in the health sector, the social insurance system and the workplaces. Research advances should contribute to better practices.
