Mohammad Kermansaravi was born in Sari in northern Iran, on July 25, 1977. He was schooled through high school in Alborz high school in his hometown. He received his MD degree in 2001 and completed his general surgery residency in 2012 at the School of Medicine of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences.

In 2016, Dr. Kermansaravi completed his 18 months fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the School of Medicine of Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. He was mentored by Professor Abdolreza Pazouki.

Dr. Kermansaravi also participated in several master classes of bariatric/metabolic surgeries mentored by famous bariatric surgeons such as Miguel Carbajo, Antonio Torres, Luigi Angrisani, and Guy-Bernard Cadiere.

In 2017, Dr. Kermansaravi began his career as an assistant professor of surgery in the Department of Surgery, Division of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Rasool-e Akram Hospital, an IFSO-EC COE of bariatric and metabolic surgery, in the School of Medicine, Iran University of Medical Sciences at Tehran. He actively trained Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) and bariatric fellows and general surgery residents.

Dr. Kermansaravi is also active in the Minimally Invasive Research Center performing research in MIS and bariatric surgery and encouraging fellows and residents to also be active in MIS and bariatric surgery research.

Of note, in 2019, Dr. Kermansaravi and Professor Pazouki introduced the original technique for the Single Anastomosis Sleeve-Jejunal Bypass (SASJ), a new and novel technique for bariatric/metabolic surgery.

Dr. Kermansaravi’s areas of expertise are primary/revision/conversion bariatric surgical procedures, metabolic surgery, and upper gastro-intestinal minimally invasive surgeries such as esophageal and gastric benign/malignant diseases.

Dr. Kermansaravi has published more than 50 papers pertaining to topics in bariatric surgery. He has also directed some international expert’s consensuses and global surveys and is a reviewer for Obesity Surgery journal. This year, he was promoted to the editorial board of Obesity Surgery journal.

Dr. Kermansaravi has been married for 21 years to Dr. Samaneh Rokhgireh who is an assistant professor of MIS in gynecology at Rasool-e Akram Hospital and they have been blessed with two children.
