As of January 1, 2010, Obesity Surgery will no longer be accepting Case Reports. This decision will allow for the publication of a greater number of clinical reports, research articles, and other presentations, and, thereby, reduce the Obesity Surgery backlog of accepted manuscripts waiting for in-print publication. Case Reports that are submitted before the end of 2009, and are accepted by the peer review process, will be published in-print.

The editors believe that the justification for publishing any manuscript lies in its relevance, not to an individual, but to the larger population of readers. If you believe a particular patient event could indicate an issue of general relevance, you are encouraged to collect more data, either from basic biomedical or laboratory research or by further clinical study and measurement, and submit your effort as a systematic review, short communication, or a new concept.
