Abstract
Adipose tissue can not only store certain organic pollutants but it can also free them, particularly in cases of significant or long-term weight-loss. As yet we know little about the good and/or bad consequences of this newly discovered tissue function and it would therefore appear advisable to carry out toxicological and metabolic studies of heavily obese subjects who have undergone bariatric surgery.
