Abstract
Electromyography (EMG) has been an accepted tool in medicine and science for years to measure muscle activity. However, due to the more complex analyses and interpretations, electromyography has not yet become a part of routine clinical diagnostics. In addition to common quantitative methods, assessment of muscle quality is an important component of the examination and treatment planning for patients with functional disorders. Scapular dyskinesis is used to illustrate how modern, functional EMG analysis can help to reduce the complexity in order to assess the neuromuscular system. A brief analysis like this should be implemented in orthopedic and physiotherapeutic examinations.
