Abstract

Managing the maintenance of CT scanners can often present a significant challenge for numerous companies. Nevertheless, this challenge can be effectively addressed using a variety of well-established tools grounded in optimal ergonomics. Hence, the primary objective of this study is to employ PARETO's maintenance management methodology in the analysis of component failures within a 16-slice scanner. To obtain failure data, service reports from three Neusoft NeuViz 16-slice scanners were collected over a two-year period. The components examined included the gantry, console, patient couch, and reprographic system. The cumulative failures totaled 53, with 20, 13, 11, and 9 failures recorded for the gantry, console, reprographic system, and patient couch, respectively. These corresponded to percentages of 37.73, 24.52, 20.75, and 16.98%. Notably, the gantry and console accounted for 80% of scanner failures. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the gantry failures highlighted that a substantial portion of them, specifically 80%, could be attributed to the F102 fuse holder, UCOM card, DMS system, and the left-hand control panel. Similarly, in the case of console failures, the Database and RDC card were identified as culprits responsible for 80% of such failures. Consequently, to enhance the availability and reliability of the Neusoft NeuViz scanner, it is imperative to periodically implement a regimen of preventive, corrective, and improvement actions.
