ASM Headquarters, Materials Park, OH

Steel is, technologically and economically, the most important of all materials. Understanding the metallurgy involved in making steel, in shaping it by hot or cold processes, in welding it, and in heat treating it to develop any of the extraordinarily diverse combinations of strength, hardness, toughness, and ductility available is essential to successful manufacturing and construction. This course teaches the basics and delves into some of the more advanced topics critical to steel fabrication (1.8 CEUs).
