Abstract

Al-based TiB2 + 10%Ti4O7 interlayer composite electrode material has been prepared by plasma spraying technology. β-PbO2xMnO2 electrochemically catalytically active coating was prepared by electrochemical deposition technology. x-Ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was used to study the phase structure of the coating, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to analyze its microstructure. The XRD results showed that, after Mn2+ doping, a peak corresponding to MnO2 phase appeared, indicating deposition of the ions in the oxide phase. SEM analysis revealed changes in the electrode coating microstructure after Mn2+ doping. MnO2 doping made the grain arrangement on the electrode surface more uniform and denser, while the coating also showed higher stability during the electrodeposition process. The electrochemical performance of the electrode was studied based on the open-circuit potential, steady-state polarization curve, cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that doping with 80 g/L Mn2+ provided the best effect and overall performance of the electrode. By codepositing PbO2 and MnO2 on the composite electrode’s surface, the high conductivity of PbO2 and high electrocatalytic activity of MnO2 were successfully combined. Compared with traditional Pb-0.5 wt.%Ag electrodes, the corrosion current density was 6.1632  ×  10 −6 A cm−2 and the corrosion resistance was significantly enhanced; the electrode polarization potential was 2.055 V, while the catalytic activity was also significantly improved.
