Experimental Study on Oxidative Desulfurization of Molten Copper Slag by Different Oxidants

Abstract

We study the oxidative desulfurization of copper slag at temperatures ranging from 1250 °C to 1450 °C using experimental copper slag as raw material. This is significantly different from the oxidative desulfurization process of low sulfur slag (wS < 0.2 pct) at temperatures > 1500 °C compared with the literature. Based on thermodynamic equilibrium calculation and an experimental study of oxidative desulfurization, desulfurization effects of different oxidants are compared, and the basic principles and rules of oxidative desulfurization are explored to solve the problem of high S content in copper slag in the process of comprehensive utilization.
