Abstract
The phase equilibria information on the Fe-O-S system holds high importance for industrial metallurgical processes. The phase diagram of the Fe-O-S system in equilibrium with metallic iron and wustite has been constructed at temperatures between 1223 K and 1473 K (950 °C and 1200 °C). In addition, the eutectic temperature of the system has been determined to range between 1188 K and 1193 K (915 °C and 920 °C). High-temperature equilibration/quenching/electron probe X-ray microanalysis technique has been used to measure the compositions of the phases in equilibrium in the system.
