Acoustoelastic Behaviors of SKD61 During Annealing for Nondestructive Evaluation of Die Casting Mold Degradation

Abstract

In this study, the characteristic acoustoelastic behaviors of SKD61 hot die steel were revealed, which is useful for nondestructive evaluation technique of die casting mold in view of the Internet of Things (IoT). The measurement principle was investigated from the acoustoelastic effect of diffracted shear horizontal (SH) waves caused by slight increase in elastic modulus and rapid relaxation of residual stress, which accompany the bct-to-bcc phase transformation.
