Kinetic Approach to Determine the Glass-Forming Ability in Hf-Based Metallic Glasses

In this study, the glass-forming ability (GFA) of the Hf-Cu-Ni system has been evaluated by a kinetic approach. The viscosity of individual elements was used in the present analysis. These viscosity values are further utilized to plot the time-temperature-transformation (TTT) curve and to determine the critical cooling rate (Rc). It has been observed that with a decrease in Hf content, the TTT curve shifts to the right, suggesting an enhancement in the GFA. These findings are consistent with the reported literature.
