Abstract
Distal humerus fractures are complex fractures as they are often comminuted, rare fractures, associated with severe soft tissue and neurovascular injuries, as well as to osteoporosis. Their treatment is complex and there is no consensus among surgeons, and options include conservative treatment, plate osteosynthesis, axial and hinged external fixators, associations of plate and external fixator. The goal we must achieve, independent of the type of osteosynthesis that has been used, must be to reach functional elbow stability, without pain. The aim of our work was to demonstrate that external fixation may be considered as a valid method not only in case of emergencies, but also for the definitive treatment of such fractures.
