Patient-specific cutting guides may supplant navigation-assisted surgery

Abstract

“Patient-specific” cutting guides have the objective to obtain a better alignment, to reduce blood loss, surgical time and inter-surgeon variability. This technology has many points in common with navigation-assisted surgery and probably it will become its antagonist. However, intra-operative check of the cuts and sotf tissue balancing remain crucial steps.
