Abstract

From Neer’s observation on subacromial impingement to the more recent developments of Burkhart’ theories of cable suspension and antero-posterior balance of the cuff, anatomical and biomechanical studies have given great impulse to surgical and mechanical reconstruction of a damaged rotator cuff.

Today we are entering a new order of problems regarding the biological process of muscular degeneration and our possibilities to reverse this process and obtain a guaranteed and reproducible bone-tendon healing.
