„Begrenzung” durch kulturelles Kapital?

Zusammenfassung

Vor dem Hintergrund zunehmender regionaler Disparitäten bezüglich der ökonomischen Entwicklung und Lebensbedingungen in Europa ist „Migration” zu einem Kernthema der Politik in vielen europäischen Ländern geworden. Ein wichtiges Gebiet der Forschung bildet die Analyse der zentralen Determinanten von Mobilität bzw. Migration, wobei regionenspezifisches kulturelles Kapital bisher kaum berücksichtigt wird. Genau hier setzt der folgende Beitrag an, indem er das regionenspezifische kulturelle Kapital als besondere Form kulturellen Kapitals bei der Erklärung von Mobilitätsabsichten stärker in den Mittelpunkt rückt. Im Sinne einer theoriegeleiteten empirischen Analyse wird sich hierbei auf die Kapitalientheorie von Pierre Bourdieu und insbesondere auf dessen Unterscheidung von kulturellem, ökonomischem und sozialem Kapital bezogen. Grundlage der Analysen bildet eine im Freistaat Sachsen durchgeführte repräsentative Bevölkerungsumfrage von 3.005 Personen. Die Analysen zeigen, dass eine Mobilitätsabsicht am stärksten durch das regionenspezifische kulturelle Kapital, die Unzufriedenheit mit der Situation in der Region und das Alter der Befragten erklärt wird.

Abstract

With increasing regional disparities in economic development and living conditions in Europe, migration has become a key element in domestic politics of many European countries. One of the main concerns of analysis has been the search for important determinants of migration, however, the role of „region specific cultural capital“ has not been considered. This omission is the starting point of our discussion and we introduce region specific capital as a form of cultural capital. In contrast to widespread approaches, hypotheses deriving from the theory of Pierre Bourdieu and his distinction of economic, social and cultural capital are deduced and empirically tested, using a representative survey of 3005 persons living in Saxony. The results show that the main determinants of migration are region specific cultural capital, dissatisfaction and age.

Résumé

Dans un contexte de croissance des disparités régionales en matière de développement économique et de conditions de vie en Europe, les „migrations“ sont devenues un sujet politique central dans de nombreux pays européens. Bien que l’analyse des principaux déterminants de la mobilité et des migrations constitue un domaine de recherche important, le capital culturel régional demeure jusqu’à présent largement ignoré. C’est de ce constat que part cet article qui porte une plus grande attention au capital culturel régional, considéré comme forme particulière de capital culturel, pour l’explication des intentions de mobilité. Sur le plan théorique, l’analyse des données empiriques s’appuie sur la théorie des capitaux de Pierre Bourdieu et notamment sur la distinction qu’elle établit entre capital culturel, économique et social. Ces analyses sont basées sur une enquête menée en Saxe auprès d’une population représentative de 3005 personnes. Elles montrent que les intentions de mobilité individuelles dépendent le plus fortement du capital culturel régional, de l’insatisfaction à l’égard de la situation dans la région et de l’âge des personnes interrogées.
