Zusammenfassungen

Der Artikel demonstriert und kritisiert eine überraschende Transformation des Demokratiebegriffs in der neueren Politikwissenschaft. Es handelt sich, so die Autoren, um den Versuch, sich weitgehend von den partizipativen Momenten demokratischer Politik zu verabschieden und stattdessen die Rationalität der Politikergebnisse zum entscheidenden Merkmal erfolgreicher Politik zu erheben. Der Artikel zeigt die Probleme, die mit dieser „Rationalisierung“ des Demokratieverständnisses verbunden sind.

Abstract

The article diagnoses a new semantic transformation of the term “democracy” in recent democratic theories. Former participatory elements are substituted by a rationalist view on policy outcomes only. This very recent semantic turn is explained by certain external and internal elements of theorizing democracy and a particular interplay of these elements in academic political theory.
