Zusammenfassung

Fragestellung

Anhand der Erstbefragung der Eltern im Modellvorhaben „Eltern stärken für den Umgang mit dem Alkoholkonsum ihrer Kinder“ wurde erhoben, wie gut die Eltern über jugendlichen Alkoholkonsum informiert sind und welche alkoholbezogenen Regeln sie im Umgang mit ihren Kindern für sinnvoll halten. Weiterhin wurden die Reaktionen der Eltern auf einen Rauschzustand der Kinder erhoben.

Methode

Es wurden 2793 Eltern von Schülern und Schülerinnen der Klassenstufen 8–10 in Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Sachsen und Schleswig-Holstein befragt. Der Rücklauf der Fragebögen erfolgte über die Lehrkräfte.

Ergebnisse

Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich die Eltern zum Thema „Erziehung und Alkoholkonsum der Kinder“ gut informiert fühlen. Als Informationsquelle nutzen 71 % das Internet. Zirka 95 % der Eltern haben bereits mit ihren Kindern über Alkoholkonsum gesprochen, wobei sie v. a. vor gesundheitlichen Schäden und einer Abhängigkeitsentwicklung warnen. Diejenigen Verhaltensregeln, die einen sicheren Heimweg der Kinder garantieren sollen, werden von den Eltern favorisiert. Als Reaktion auf Regelverstöße suchen die Eltern vorrangig das Gespräch mit ihren Kindern. Der Vergleich mit aktuellen Erhebungen unter Jugendlichen zeigt, dass die Eltern den Alkoholkonsum ihrer Kinder unterschätzen.

Schlussfolgerungen

Alkohol und seine Folgen sind ein Gesprächsthema unter Eltern und Kindern. Dabei brauchen die Eltern Unterstützung, um sachlich und jugendgerecht zu argumentieren. Um die Eltern zu erreichen, sollten suchtpräventive Maßnahmen verstärkt das Internet als Aufklärungsmedium nutzen.

Abstract

Objective

Based on the initial survey of the project “Strengthen parents for dealing with the alcohol consumption of their children” parental style was quantified. The survey addressed the following issues: 1. The parents information of the alcohol consumption of their adolescents. 2. Adequate rules when dealing with the alcohol consumption of their children. 3. Parentʼs reactions to a potential intoxication of their children.

Method

2,793 parents of students in grades 8–10 were surveyed in Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. The questionnaires were passed back through the teachers. The questionnaires were collected by the teachers.

Results

The results show that parents feel well informed about alcohol related education of children. 71 % use the internet as an information source. Approx. 95 % of the parents have talked with their children about alcohol consumption, particularly adviced them of health damages and development of dependence. Those rules of behavior guaranteeing a safe way home are favored by parents. In response to rule violations the parents talk with their children first. The comparison with current youth surveys shows that parents underestimate their childrenʼs drinking.

Conclusions

Alcohol and its consequences are a topic of conversation among parents and children. The parents need support to argue objectively and according to youth. The Internet should be used for drug prevention education activities.
