Prof. WANG YuPeng, Director of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Beijing National Laboratory for Condensed Matter Physics. He joined the Cryogenic Laboratory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as an associate professor in 1994, and became a professor in 1996. He joined the Institute of Physics in 1999 as head of a research group, and became the head of the Laboratory of Condensed Matter Theory and Materials Computation in 2001. He served as a Deputy Director of the Institute of Physics after 2003, and became the Director in 2007. His research focuses on low-dimensional electron and spin systems, ladders, integrable models, impurity problems in correlated hosts, quantum critical phenomena and non-Fermi liquid behavior, superconductivity, transport properties of mesoscopic systems, many-body effects, and new states of matter in cold atoms. He was granted an “Outstanding Youth Research Grant” from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and received the “Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholar Prize” from the Hong Kong Qiu Shi Science and Technology Foundation in 1998. He received the “Ye Qi-Sun award” from Chinese Physical Society in 2005 and a “Second Prize of the State Natural Science Award of China” in 2012.
