Li Pei (李佩), a retired teacher of English of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is an active initiator of the “Mutual Help and Service Center in Zhong Guan Cun Area”. Ever since her retirement in 1987, she has never stopped teaching and promoting community social activities on a voluntary basis. She was a graduate student at Cornell University from 1947 to 1948, and then served as a language teacher in the Department of Linguistics. She came back China with her husband in 1956.
