Abstract

This article reports the case of a 51-year-old woman presenting with intermittent melena over the previous 2 months including severe anemia requiring a transfusion. The patient had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996. An ulcerated stenosis of the proximal jejunum was detected by double-balloon enteroscopy and histological results confirmed gastrointestinal metastasis of the invasive ductal breast cancer. During surgery five more jejunal metastases were detected and subsequently continued chemotherapy with paclitaxel was initiated in the gynecology department.
