Abstract

Mucinous cystic neoplasia (MCN) and the differential diagnosis of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasia (IPMN) are common neoplasias of the pancreas with increasing prevalence. The latter often result in recurrent episodes of chronic pancreatitis. We report on an 89-year-old patient who was admitted from a home for the elderly to our hospital with nausea and shortness of breath. The advanced age, previous history of pancreatitis and mucinous secretion from the papillae were obvious symptoms of IPMN in this patient.
