Summary
Evidence is growing that appetite regulating peptides might share common pathways in alcoholism and eating disorders. Peptides that have gained broader interest in the last decade are ghrelin, leptin, adiponectin, resistin and insulin, among others. The brain pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) system which has important mediating roles in alcohol intake also has important functions in prolactin regulation and energy homeostasis. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated to be functionally integrated with leptin regulation. Consequently, the POMC system may have a role in integrating regulation of alcohol effects and these seemingly disparate regulatory systems.
Zusammenfassung
Die Befundlage, dass appetitregulierenden Hormonen wie Leptin, Ghrelin, Resistin, Adiponektin und Insulin im Rahmen der Alkoholabhängigkeit neben Veränderungen der HPA-Achse und Modulation der dopaminergen, serotonergen, noradrenergen, GABAergen etc. Neurotransmission-Bedeutung zukommt, hat sich in den letzten Jahren zunehmend verdichtet. Nachdem diese Hormone wahrscheinlich bei Alkoholabhängigkeit und Essstörungen gemeinsamen Mechanismen unterliegen, ist auch eine Verbindung zu craving vorstellbar. Darüber hinaus wird die Bedeutung von Pro- Opiomelanocortin (POMC) als integrierendem Faktor diskutiert.
